How the Commute Finder works
Short, sourced answers — each one stands on its own.
How is the road time worked out?
Straight-line distance from the home to the office, stretched by 1.35 for real roads, at a peak-hour average of about 18 km/h, plus 6 minutes to get going. It is an estimate, not live traffic.
How is the metro time worked out?
Walk (or an auto, beyond about 1.2 km) to the nearest running station, a 5-minute wait, about 2.2 minutes per stop and 6 minutes per line change, then the last stretch to the office. Pink and Blue lines are counted only if you tick them.
Where is each home placed?
At the project's mapped location where we have one, otherwise at a fixed point inside its area — so treat a 2–3 minute difference as noise.
Is a shorter commute worth paying more for?
Often. Two hours a day in traffic is about 500 hours a year. Compare the time saved with the extra EMI before deciding — and visit at peak hour once.
